Top politicians, bureaucrats, army officers and people from all walks of life gathered Monday at the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan to celebrate the 65th Foundation Day of the Peoples’ Republic of China where National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was invited as the chief guest.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong, while addressing the audience, said that on the 65th Foundation Day of China, it should be noted that China’s development is “fast yet stable”.

“With a 1.3 billion population, China’s gross domestic product (GDP) now ranks second in the world, which is a huge achievement. We want to drive growth with innovation and demands. China is open and inclusive. We let the market decide how to allocate resources,” the ambassador said.

CHINA WANTS COOPERATION WITH WORLD:

Reiterating that China cannot live without world and world cannot live without China, Weidong said, “We pursue the policy of amity, sincerity and common development with all our neighbours. Economic development is our central task with stability. ‎China is ready to learn from the world.”

Expressing China’s willingness to work with other countries to achieve peace and development, Weidong said that China believes in equality among all rich and poor countries of the world.

Weidong said that both Pakistan and China support justice in the world comity.

“Sino-Pak development is deeply rooted in our people’s hearts,” he said, adding that the priorities of Pakistan and China have not changed despite recent developments.

“China has offered assistance to the internally displaced persons and the victims of the recent floods in Pakistan,” said Weidong, adding that China will do more if required.

“China supports Pakistan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and appreciates its contribution in weeding out terrorism,” said Weidong.

Talking about economic developments, the Chinese ambassador mentioned the China-Pak Economic Corridor and the under-construction energy projects at Gwadar.

“China is also going to set up a new consulate general in Lahore soon.”

He added that Chinese President Xi Jingping ‎is ready to visit Pakistan on a mutually agreed date and the future of Pakistan and China’s common dreams will soon be realised.

Later, a cake was cut by all dignitaries present to mark the occasion.
