Pakistan, China to enhance ties in defence production

Islamabad: Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain on Tuesday said that China had great potential in shipbuilding sector and Pakistan wanted the Chinese to invest and extend technological support in this regard.


In a meeting with visiting Chinese delegation headed by Zhang Jianhua, Vice Administrator from SASTIND, the minister said that Pakistan wanted to raise the relationship status to a strategic level with its time-tested friend.


The meeting reviewed all pending issues and problems and emphasized for their smooth redressal on priority. He said China and Pakistan enjoy deep and trusted relations and Pakistan considers the friendship deeper than the ocean.


Rana Tanveer highlighted that fast paced method for addressing issues of bilateral concern put in place in shape of Joint Committee Mechanism. This will ensure growth of Sino-Pak cooperation in field of defence production.


Earlier, in a meeting with the delegation, Secretary Defence Production, Lt. Gen. (Retd) Tanvir Tahir emphasized the need of streamlining matters of defence cooperation.
