China and Pakistan share a common dream of an Asian Century of renewal: says Chairman PCI

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Liu Jian, has vowed to further strengthen Pakistan-China ties in all fields and said on Monday that his country had been cooperating with Pakistan and regional partners to ensure peace, progress and prosperity in the region and the world.


Addressing at a colorful ceremony of “Chinese Bridge” - Chinese Language Proficiency competition held at NUML Islamabad campus on Monday, the Chinese envoy said that Pakistan and China have very strong strategic and long-term relations and would always extended their support to each other on all important issues.


H.E. Liu Jian said that learning Chinese language could further strengthen Pakistan-China friendship and boost the cooperative partnership between the two friendly countries.


Moreover he said that China has a dream and the dream would be translated into reality when they complete the process of modernising their country by the middle of this century.


“We also have a dream about Pakistan and we are going to merge both the dream,” Mr. Liu said adding that in order to merge this dream, Pakistan and China are working jointly for the economic, commercial and cultural development as well as peaceful coexistence in this region.


While highlighting the significance of the competition, he said the “Chinese Bridge” Competition aims to arouse the enthusiasm of students in various countries in learning Chinese and strengthen the world’s understanding of Chinese language and culture.


Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of Pak-China Institute, teachers of Chinese department, Rector NUML and a large number of students from Chinese department as well as Confucius Centre were present on the occasion.


Mr Liu describing the importance of Chinese bridge told the students that a good grasp and understanding of Chinese language would open new window of opportunities for them.


Speaking on the occasion, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of Pak-China Institute, said that the model of Pak-China friendship is unique in the world in a sense that both countries are different in size, population, and culture and even in belief but still their friendship is exemplified. Chairman PCI further said that the 'Chinese Dream' is a theme promoted by President Xi Jinping, and both the Chinese and Pakistani people share a common dream of an Asian Century of renewal, with peace, prosperity and harmony in a society where there are no underdogs and no overlords.'


Efforts of NUML and Confucius institute in promoting relations in the field of language and culture are admirable, he added.


Rector NUML Maj Gen (R) Masood Hasan speaking on the occasion said that the aim of competition was to arouse enthusiasm of students in various countries in learning Chinese and strengthen the understanding of Chinese language and culture.


He further said that by holding such kinds of international activities, it not only exposes our students to Chinese culture and language but also enhances in them the good will for Chinese people.


Seven Pakistani students participated in the 12th Chinese Bridge competition.
