ISLAMABAD – Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Friday said the leaderships of Pakistan and China were committed to further promote the comprehensive strategic partnership, with a particular focus on enhancing economic cooperation.

He was talking to Communist Party of China (CPC) International Department Vice Minister Chen Fengxiang, who called on him here at Foreign Office. The vice minister condoled with the Adviser for the tragedy in Peshawar, which has brought grief not only to Pakistan but also to China and the world, said a statement issued by the office of Foreign Office spokesperson.

The Adviser thanked Chen for China's continued support in this difficult time, which was a source of strength for Pakistan. Welcoming Chen and his delegation to Pakistan, Sartaj stated that Pakistan attached great importance to its special friendship with China. He said that the CPC had led China's stellar economic transformation, which was an example for all developing countries.

Chen said that China's relationship with Pakistan was of tremendous value to China and was unique among interstate relations. “China sees Pakistan as a good neighbour, a good friend, a good partner and a good brother,” he said. He said that the CPC had always prized its association with Pakistan, which was demonstrated by its close ties with all major political parties in Pakistan.

The CPC International Department delegation briefed the Adviser on recent political and legislative developments in China, including the outcomes of the 4th Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee held in October. The visit is taking place in the context of party-to-party exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
