Mushahid welcomes delegates attending Pakistan-China-Afghanistan Trilateral Dialogue

ISLAMABAD, Oct 18: Foreign guests invited by the Pakistan-China Institute for the first ever China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Trilateral Dialogue on 19th-20th October 2014, arrived here in Islamabad.
Eminent scholars, diplomats and professionals from China, Afghanistan and Pakistan would discuss different strategic issues to draw a roadmap for the future and seek regional cooperation on Afghanistan. This is the first ever think tank dialogue amongst the three neighbours initiated by the Pakistan-China Institute, in collaboration with Konrad Adeneaur Stiftung (KAS). The Conference will also be Live Streamed on the website of the Pakistan-China Institute at: Pakistan-China.com/live-streaming.php and those wishing to access it can do so at this web address.
Chairman of Pakistan-China Institute, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, who also heads the Senate Defence Committee, while warmly welcoming the guests from China and Afghanistan termed this 'unique initiative that aims to bring the three neighbours closer together given their shared vision for peace and security, regional economic cooperation and combating terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking". He said in the 'Asian Century' the Asian countries must decide their own destinies, which are interlinked, together through consensus and consultation'. Senator Mushahid Hussain said such cooperation is needed more given the military exit of NATO from Afghanistan. The Conference begins tomorrow, Sunday, October 19, at 10 am at the Serena Hotel with keynote speeches by the Ambassadors of China and Afghanistan, Sun Weidong and Janan Mosazai, respectively as well as an introduction by Senator Mushahid Hussain.
On the final day, Monday, October 20, the conference will conclude by a special address by Rustam Shah Mohmand, former Ambassador to Afghanistan, while the Guest of Honour, Mr Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security, would address the concluding session of the conference, which will also present policy recommendations for promoting peace and cooperation in the region where Pakistan, China and Afghanistan are located.
