China assistance to help resolve Pakistan's energy crisis: Khawaja Asif

BEIJING: Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said the 3-days Pakistan-China Joint Energy Working Group meeting would yield positive result besides helping resolve Pakistan's energy crisis.

In a statement received here, the minister expressed the confidence that joint efforts would lead to creation of even greater linkages and inter-dependence for mutual benefits in energy and power sectors and thereby contribute towards further strengthening of Pakistan-China friendship.

Eulogizing China support, Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan and China shared decades old cooperation in energy sector and several projects between the two countries illustrated their close cooperation. He said both the countries mutual relation would further strengthen with the linkage through roads and railways under Pakistan-China Economic Corridor Project.

Referring to the outcome of Pak-China Joint Energy Working Group meeting, the minister said it would also help start new projects in energy sector.

He said following the visit of the Premiers of both countries, and in line with the vision of the economic corridor, the energy working group meeting further added to the economic and energy cooperation.

He pointed out that several projects had been identified for collaboration between the two countries aimed at power generation and transmission in addition to the existing projects.

Khawaja Asif acknowledged and lauded Chinese support, assistance and guidance in overcoming Pakistan's energy requirements.
