All political parties of Pakistan extend unanimous support for CPEC project

Islamabad, May 28: The Parliamentary leaders of all political parties of Pakistan on Thursday extended complete support and practical cooperation to the present government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, a landmark national economic development plan worth 46 billion dollars that envisages to link Pakistan's Gwadar port with China's Kashgar city through road and railways.
Chairing the meeting of All Parties Conference (APC) in Islamabad, Prime Minister thanked leaders of all the political parties for extending complete support and practical cooperation for the completion of the corridor project.
He said that a parliamentary committee consisting of representation from all the political parties has been constituted for the oversight of the project.
The Prime Minister said a working group has also been set up to address the grievances of the provinces.
He said that the resources will be allocated for the project in the next fiscal year.
The Prime Minister announced that the western alignment of the Corridor from Khunjrab to Gwadar will be completed first on priority basis.
He said that under this Hassanabdal, Mianwali, Dera Ismail Khan, Zob, Quetta, Kalat, Nag, Bisma, Panjgur, Turbat will be connected to Gwadar. He said that work will be immediately started at the Mughal Kot-Dera Ismail Khan section.
Earlier, addressing the first session of the APC meeting, PM Nawaz Sharif said this mega project will be proved to be a milestone for Pakistan. He said the investment pouring in from China is unprecedented in the history of Pakistan and credit for this goes to all the political parties.
Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal is briefing the parliamentary leaders about the different routes of Pakistan China economic corridor project.
Briefing the meeting, the Minister for Planning and Development said Pakistan China economic corridor project will benefit all the provinces. He said Gwadar will be connected with Kasghar with three different routes.
He said the project is not mere the name of a road but it envisages establishment of industrial zones and power projects. Most of the power projects under the corridor will be established in Sindh. He said this project will attract more tourists to Gilgit Baltistan.
Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique also briefed the meeting about the plan of connecting Gwadar to Kashghar through rail network.
