Launch Ceremony of the Urdu Version of Chinese President's book, 'Xi Jinping: The Governance of China'

Islamabad, April 14th 2017: Launch Ceremony of the Urdu Version of Chinese President’s book, ‘Xi Jinping: The Governance of China’ was held today at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat and the event was graced by the Prime Minister, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. The event was jointly hosted by the State Council Information Office of China, China International Publishing Group and the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, and was organized by the Foreign Languages Press of China and the Pakistan-China Institute.
The ceremony was conducted by the President of China International Publishing Group, H.E. Mr. Zhang Fuhai. Making the opening remarks, Minister of the State Council Information Office of China, H.E. Jiang Jianguo applauded the institutes that contributed in the translation of President Xi Jinping’s book into Urdu. Commenting on the book, Mr. Jiang said that the book aims to give open, inclusive and mutual benefit by offering innovative solutions with oriental wisdom. He talked about shared destiny of the two countries and assured the audience that China wants to contribute to the development of other nations. He added that Pakistan is China’s best friend and that it is the most important player in Premier’s One Belt One Road initiative. Concluding his speech, he reminded everyone of a famous Chinese saying “brothers of same mind can overcome any difficulty”.
H.E. Sun Weidong, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan commended the efforts of Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed and the Pakistan-China Institute in translation of the book. He said that the book will open new window for international community to watch, understand and access China. He pointed out that the most frequently used term in the book is ‘Chinese Dream’ and we should interpret this dream from the perspective of our neighbors and their aspirations for a better life and regional prosperity.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of the CPEC Parliamentary Committee, while addressing the audience at the ceremony, highlighted the shared vision of leaders of the two countries - development, connectivity, and cooperation in the region. Referring to the challenges faced by CPEC, he quoted Chairman Mao’s saying that “Nothing is hard in this world if you dare to scale the heights.”
Chief Guest of the ceremony, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made the concluding remarks. He expressed admiration for the book’s focus on enhancing the lives of common people. He emphasized that CPEC is a symbol and icon of togetherness and it will bring a positive change for all the people, and improve their lives by creating jobs for locals. PM praised Senator Mushahid Hussain, terming him a 'national asset who is serving the country above any political considerations by strengthening Pakistan-China relations and promoting the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in his capacity as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC.
After the unveiling ceremony, signed books were presented by the Prime Minister to Mustafa Hyder Sayed (Executive Director, Pakistan-China Institute), Dr. Saeed Illahi (Chairman, Pakistan Red Crescent), Dr. Zhang Daojian (Head of the Confucius Institute), and Amb. Ali Sarwar Naqvi (Chairman, Center for International Strategic Studies).
The event was also attended by Minister for Information Marrium Aurangzeb, Leader of the Senate, Senator Raja Zafarul Haq, and Special Assistant to the PM on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi, alongside various other parliamentarians, academics, journalists, and members of think tanks.
