Pakistan PM to give briefing to Parliamentary leaders on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

Islamabad, May 05: Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has invited Parliamentary leaders on the 13th of this monthto give them a detailed briefing on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)- a mega national development plan that includes 2,100-kilometer corridor having special economic zones, railway system, model cities, airport as well as a free port at Gwadar.

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor starts from Kashgar in China's Xinjiang province runs throughout the whole Pakistan and finally reaches Gwadar Port.

Pakistan's Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said projects of forty-five billion dollars would be implemented through China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The economic corridor project was proposed during Li's visit to Pakistan in May 2013 while the leaders of the two states agreed to accelerate the building of the economic corridor, a mega development project focusing on energy cooperation, transportation infrastructure construction and industrial parks.

The Economic Corridor, with a total investment of 46 billion, is a glaring example of the close friendship between the Pakistan and China. The project will not only enhance trade ties between China and Pakistan but also generate employment opportunities in Balochistan province.

The experts have termed the corridor as game changer for the region, bringing prosperity and development for Pakistan and the region as a whole.
