On March 29, a 10 member delegation from the China World Peace Foundation (CWPF), led by Chairman of the CWPF and United Nations Consultant, Dr. Li Ruo Hong, and consisting of the heads as well as key representatives of major Chinese corporate entities, visited the Pakistan-China Institute. An in-depth meeting was held, presided over by the Chairman of PCI, Senator Mushahid Hussain, and attended by Dr. Dushka Saiyid, Editor Youlin, and Aiza Azam, Director Projects.

Senator Mushahid briefly introduced the PCI team and gave an overview of the Institute’s work and major projects undertaken during the 5 years since its establishment. He also discussed upcoming international conferences that PCI will be hosting and participating in, in cooperation with international government as well as private institutions. In particular, the Chairman highlighted PCI’s research and cultural initiatives on the Silk Road in general and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in particular.

Dr. Li thanked Senator Mushahid for welcoming him and his team to the Pakistan-China Institute and expressed his hopes for the opportunity to establish a cooperative relationship between the two organizations. He introduced the delegation members, and provided the PCI team with an overview of the CWPF’s work, in various areas including energy, the environment, socio-economic development, education, culture, etc.

Dr. Li has previously served in a number of distinguished positions at various national and international fora, including UNESCO, the United Nations Partners’ Office, the University of Alberta International Relations Research Center, the China-Pakistan Science and Development Center, the Liechtenstein National Governance Fund, the Beijing Red Cross Society, and the China Association for International Friendly Contact.   

PCI and the CWPF signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the occasion, with the objective of establishing collaboration in both their ongoing efforts for strengthening relations between China and Pakistan in multiple arenas.
